James Bartek
BC Development
James Bartek directs his attention to Business Development Consulting in Intellectual Asset Matters with experience and training that may aptly be considered eclectic.
After earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering from the University of Michigan, James was an Engineering Design Feasibility Specialist in the marine industry evaluating and developing projects valued at about $1 Billion.
James returned to school and was graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters of Business Administration in Materials and Logistics Management with emphasis in International Business.
Returning to the marine industry, James worked in Project Engineering and in Project Management, developing products and enhancing production processes. When a mobile offshore drilling unit was damaged in pre-delivery testing, the project was threatened with late delivery penalties. James was then assigned to the project and facilitated repair and early delivery of that drilling rig, which earned a multi-million dollar early delivery bonus for the shipyard.
After receiving his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School, James returned to the Grand Rapids area, pursuing business development from a perspective of intellectual asset management. James has worked with members of various local intellectual property law firms, including, the Price, Heneveld, Cooper, DeWitt, & Litton firm. the Van Dyke, Gardner, Linn, & Burkhart firm, and the Varnum, Riddering, Schmidt, & Howlett firm. Clients have included individuals and the largest West Michigan corporation, as well as individuals and corporations around the world. Notably, James worked with a subsidiary company that was an exploration of expanding the parent company technology into new markets. After a few years work, including about eight million dollars investment, intellectual properties had been developed, identified, and protected, which facilitated sale of the subsidiary for nearly $20 million.
